About Dr. Gary Ross, DDS Helping people comes naturally to Dr. Gary Ross. He is the third generation of health care providers in his family, himself the son of a dentist. Dr. Ross undertook undergraduate studies at the University of San Francisco and the University of New Mexico, where he obtained his B.S.degree in 1976. He completed his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1980 at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Actually, Dr. Ross feels the attainment of his doctorate degree was only the beginning of a lifelong quest to further his knowledge of the dental arts of healing and restoring the beauty of a smile. Throughout his nearly 30 years of practice Dr. Ross has attained multiple professional distinctions including fellowships from the Academy of General Dentistry and the prestigious International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He has also passed Fellowship examinations for the American Academy of Implant Dentistry as well as the Misch Institute of Implantology, training directly with Drs. Carl and Craig Misch, both of whom are considered world leaders in the field of oral implantology. Dr. Ross has also attended the M.A.P. institute for advanced training in osseous (bone) grafting and thousands of hours of certified post graduate continuing educational courses in the field of dentistry. Dr. Ross is also a board eligible candidate for the American Board of Oral Implantology as well as the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He has maintained a private practice dedicated to helping people achieve healthy and beautiful smiles through Implant, Cosmetic, Reconstructive and General Dentistry in Albuquerque, New Mexico since 1981. Dr. Ross is the founder of The Southwest Center for Dental Excellence, dedicated to the teaching of advanced technologies and procedures to dental professionals. He is active in his community as a member of the Alexis de Tocqueville Society of United Way of Central New Mexico, the Special Olympics, The Albuquerque Christian Children's Home, Habitat for Humanity, and is a Rotary Club Clinton P. Anderson Fellow as well as serving a three year term as a board member for Delta Dental of New Mexico. Dr. Ross is active in his church and enjoys his leisure time spending hours as an avid outdoorsman. Dr. Ross is an accomplished fly fisherman, hunter, backpacker, cyclist, skier, pilot and campfire raconteur! As Dr. Ross likes to say "Dentistry is not my job- it is my joy!"
